Chemical dosing pumps mounted on an industrial dosing skid

Supply, dosing & monitoring

Water treatment chemicals, supplied as programmes — not drums

Boiler, cooling, reverse osmosis, coagulation, biocide and CIP chemistry for South African industry — selected against your water analysis, delivered with the dosing pumps and monitoring that keep every dose correct.

Prosep is a water treatment chemicals supplier in Boksburg, Gauteng, serving industrial sites across South Africa since 1998. The range covers every water system on a plant — the boilers that raise steam, the towers that reject heat, the RO plant that makes process water, the clarifier and effluent plant that clean up after it, and the CIP system that keeps a food line hygienic. What we do not do is sell it by the drum. Why that matters is set out in our guide to a chemical supplier versus a water treatment programme.

A chemical only works at the right dose, in the right place, held there between visits. So every product Prosep supplies comes as part of a programme: selected against your water analysis, delivered with the dosing pumps and control that hold the setpoint, and proven by the residuals our engineers measure on site. Across more than 300 sites, that is the difference between chemistry that is bought and chemistry that works.

The range

Water treatment chemicals by system

Six programme families, each matched to the water it treats and the metal it protects.

01

Boiler water chemicals

Oxygen scavengers that remove dissolved oxygen from feedwater before it pits the tubes; scale controllers that hold hardness in suspension so it leaves through blowdown; alkalinity control and sludge conditioning; and steam and condensate chemistry that protects the return lines. Dosed to measured residuals, not rule of thumb.

02

Cooling water chemicals

Phosphonate and polymer scale inhibitors selected for your water, cycles and skin temperatures and dosed against a saturation index we measure on site; corrosion inhibitors matched to the circuit metallurgy, including azole-based protection for yellow metals; and closed-loop inhibitor and glycol packages for chilled-water systems.

03

RO & membrane chemicals

Antiscalant matched to the feedwater analysis so sparingly soluble salts never foul the membranes, clean-in-place chemicals for periodic membrane cleaning, and biocide regimes where biofouling is the risk — with membrane performance normalised and reported.

04

Coagulants & flocculants

Coagulant and flocculant programmes for clarification, thickening, filtration and sludge dewatering, selected by jar test on your actual water — the right coagulant charge, flocculant molecular weight and dose for the particles in that stream. Ferric chloride for phosphate removal where discharge demands it.

05

Biocides & Legionella control

Oxidising biocides as the primary control, designed around system volume, demand and half-life, supported by non-oxidising biocides where the system needs them — run as a Legionella programme working to the principles of SANS 893, with dip-slide and plate-count monitoring and the records a duty-holder needs.

06

CIP & cleaning chemistry

Caustic and acid cleaning chemistry matched to the soil and the materials, sanitiser chemistry matched to the organisms, and inhibited acid solvents for boiler descaling that protect the steel while the deposit dissolves — each with the contact time and validation the duty requires.

Supplied with

Chemistry is only half the supply

The dosing pumps, control and monitoring that come with every programme are what keep the chemical at its setpoint between visits.

01

Dosing pumps & control

Chemical dosing pumps that dose in proportion to the water used — no slug dosing, less manual handling — plus automatic blowdown control on boilers and conductivity-controlled bleed on cooling towers, so each dose holds to a measured setpoint between visits.

02

Water analysis & residuals

Routine on-site testing of the residuals that prove the chemistry is working — scavenger reserve, inhibitor level, saturation index, biocide demand — with periodic external laboratory verification where the compliance case needs it.

03

Written reporting

A service report after every visit: what was measured, what was dosed, what changed, and what needs attention — the record a plant manager, an SHEQ lead or an auditor can act on.

FAQ

Water treatment chemicals questions

What chemicals are used in industrial water treatment?

It depends on the system. Boilers use oxygen scavengers, scale controllers and condensate treatment; cooling towers use scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors and biocides; RO plants use antiscalant and membrane cleaners; clarifiers and effluent plants use coagulants and flocculants, with pH correction and metals precipitation chemistry where the stream needs it; and food plants use caustic, acid and sanitiser CIP chemistry. Prosep supplies all of these families, selected against a water analysis rather than a price list.

Can we buy water treatment chemicals from Prosep without a service programme?

Prosep sells engineered programmes rather than fixed-price products, because a chemical only works at the right dose in the right place. In practice that means the chemistry is supplied together with the dosing equipment and the monitoring that keep it correct — and priced transparently against that scope after a site assessment. If you already have dosing and monitoring in place, we assess it and build the supply around it.

Do you supply the dosing pumps and equipment as well?

Yes. Chemical dosing pumps, automatic blowdown systems, conductivity-controlled bleed, water meters and the monitoring equipment behind them are supplied, installed and serviced as part of the programme, so the dose is held to a measured setpoint rather than left to a manual routine.

Where does Prosep supply water treatment chemicals?

Across South Africa, from our base in Boksburg, Gauteng. We serve more than 300 industrial sites nationally, with on-site engineers who sample, dose, monitor, report and come back — the routine that keeps a chemical programme honest.

How do you choose the right product for our plant?

From the water and the system, not a catalogue: a site assessment, a water analysis, the metallurgy and operating conditions of the circuit, and where it matters a jar test or a side-by-side trial on your own plant. The programme states its targets before you commit, and the residuals we measure on site prove whether it is holding them.

Tell us what your water needs.

Send us your water analysis or book a site assessment. We will specify the chemistry, the dosing and the monitoring — and price it transparently against that scope.
